I’ve been craving Takorea since Friday. It was around then when I suggested to my beau, Brandon, that we enjoy a nice Sunday meal there. He agreed and that was the plan…well, until my garage door decided to go kaput. Being trapped in the house pushed our Takorea date to Tuesday.
We decided to meet after work and this made for such a treat. I’d never been to the Dunwoody location and I noticed that the menu was a bit smaller than the Midtown spot, so I wondered how it would fare. Upon arrival, I remembered it was Taco Tuesday, so I ordered two shrimp tacos and one pull pork taco. Brandon ordered two shrimp tacos as well and one of the special tacos of the day–tempura portobello. We also shared a side of sesame fries with chipotle ketchup. It was so good.
After a delightful meal, we retreated to Morelli’s Gourmet Ice Cream for dessert. I had a bit of a sweet tooth and so did he. I’d never tried their ice cream before, so I hoped for the best. Well, the best came in the form of salted caramel ice cream.
I ordered a quart of salted caramel (which is just amazing for one that is trying to lose weight) and Brandon ordered a double scoop of butter pecan + dulce de leche in a waffle cup.
He pretty much devoured his ice cream, so I’m pretty sure it was good. My salted caramel ice cream was very smooth and also very salty. If you’re more of a caramelly-person, I’d probably stick with a smaller cup or a pint. Salt-lovers will enjoy this dessert.
Needless to say, this date night was a success. Also, it provided inspiration for a future date night, where we will take on the epicness that is Farm Burger. Until next time!
